Day 2 Nationals Trip

Had a great day for sure! Left from Tucumcari NM around 8 or so and just took our time. If we saw something interesting, we stopped and checked it out. Most of what we stopped and looked at was not as interesting as the billboards claimed it to be. We decided to stop and go through the Petrified Forest. It is a really cool trip as it is mostly driving but you can stop periodically at overlooks and take pictures and read signs about what you are looking at. This landscape is so vastly different from anything we see in KS or in TN that it just takes my breath away. Most of the stops had paved walk ways that we could take the dogs on so we got them out alot and Miller seemed alot less stiff. We took lots of pictures that I posted on my FB site and will try and post when I get on a better internet connection.
We are again in a Motel 6 in Holbrook AZ, but the internet is free so it is a bit slower. Went to bed early but Deuce still woke us up early again. I did make sure to have the alarm off so that we did get a little bit more sleep, but deuce was up at 6 and did not want to go back to sleep. I haven't been dragging his crate in but when we get the RV and get set up, he will be in the crate for sure. We haven't really gotten lots of sleep but we have been taking our time and having lots of fun. Last year we had stopped at a jewerly store on Route 66 and they had told us that there was a guy in Holbrook that had a BBQ resturant that was from Henderson which is in TN near Jackson where I was born and raised. We decided to go eat there last night but unfortunatley, he was closed for the night when we got there. We ended up at a place called Butterfield's Steak house which was very good. They actually had 1554 (New Belgium Beer) in bottles and good margaritias and add that plus us being tired equals some good laughs. I think they thought we were having way too much fun but everything turned out to be funny and we were laughing so hard we were crying.
Today we are picking up the RV in Mesa AZ and heading to the campground to set up. We are going through the Sitgreaves National Forest and the Tonto National Forest and the mountains so we should have fun and take lots of pictures. Time to go shower and get on the road, mom is getting antsy!
